The distribution and characteristics of acid rain and SO_2 pollution were presented, indicating that the areas with sulfur deposition over critical loads reached 21.9 /100 of the territory in 1995. In order to control the acid rain and SO_2 pollution effectively, the Acid Rain Control Zone and SO_2 Pollution Control Zone (Two Control Zones for short) were designated based on the analysis of sulfur deposition.
