Elderly couple dies after rear-ending trash hauler

A 67-year-old woman and her 84-year-old husband were killed Aug. 22 when their Ford Explorer crashed into the back of a garbage truck on Interstate 70 in New Mexico. The truck was turning off the highway when the Explorer rearended it. The driver of the garbage truck was not hurt. He was not cited for the crash but did receive citations for equipment violations.
