Alabama is the latest landfill battleground as the state's new governor is moving to delay the development of any new large disposal sites. Gov. Robert Bentley, just weeks into his new administration, has issued an executive order suspending permits for pro- posed landfills that accept more than 1,500 tons or 2,000 cubic yards of waste per day or sites of at least 500 acres.
