Waste Connections eyes larger fish' to buy

Waste Connections Inc., fresh off a deal to acquire SKB Environmental Inc. in Minnesota, is looking at what the company's CEO is calling some "larger fish." The Woodlands, Texas-based company has a 15-year history of growth through acquisitions. Now as one of the largest solid waste management operations in the country, the company is considering pulling the trigger on a few pretty major deals. "I would tell you that we have two or three, again, by our mod- el, fairly large acquisitions and I would characterize those [as] a couple of hundred million in annual revenue or better," CEO Ronald J. Mittelstaedt said during a recent conference call to discuss earnings.
