An assessment of medical waste management practices in selected healthcare facilities in Benue State, Nigeria: A case study

In Nigeria medical waste (MW) has never received much attention. Improper waste handling and indiscriminate disposal make infectious wastes accessible to children scavenging dumpsites (Coker et al., 2009). This study was designed to identify the existing MW management practices in healthcare facilities in Benue State, Nigeria as well as to examine the existing practices and the challenges associated with MW management in Benue State.
