There can be no doubt that the wide-spread growth in environmental programs and services (particularly in terms of household recycling and greenwaste/green organics), together with the accompanying public education and information campaigns, that has occurred over the past 20+ years has had a major impact on the way in which most people think about the environment. In fact, it would now be fair to say that the majority of Australians are better informed than ever before in terms of 'environmental awareness',and are better prepared to do their bit to improve the environment and reduce their environmental footprint. One only has to look at the participation rates that are being achieved by recycling services around the country to see that this is indeed the case.
