A View from Westminster

Ian Blackford MP, the highly respected leader of the Scottish National Party at Westminster, writes for Warship World. His party has voted against the replacement of Trident, but Mr Blackford highlights that from a solely strategic standpoint, Scotland is placed on the maritime frontier of the North Atlantic. Despite Scottish territory making up well over half of UK waters, there are no surface navy vessels stationed in the country, at a time when Russian submarine activity has increased.
