Has recycling become a normalised behaviour in the UK? If so, what are the implications for other pro-environmental behaviours?

Over the last 15 years, recycling by UK citizens has moved from a marginal activity to more than 90% of people now claiming to recycle regularly. Indeed, research shows that the majority of people believe that most of their neighbours regularly recycle . Recycling rates have increased significantly from 11% in 2000/01 to recycling around 40% of waste from households in 2011.
