Nguyen Cao Ky and the Sai Gon regime (the Republic of Viet Nam)

To turn the invasive war into a civil war, the French colonialists brought Bao Dai back to Viet Nam and appointed him as the puppet head of "the state of Viet Nam" on 1 July 1949. On 11 May 1950, they established the so-called "national army" to help their expeditionary forces in military activities. At that time, Nguyen Cao Ky, exactly 20 years old, joined the puppet army and was sent to Morocco, France and Algeria to learn to fly military airplanes.
