After having learnt that 18 engineers and workers are dead in a rockslide in Ban Ve Hydropower Plant in Yen Na Commune, Tuong Duong District, Nghe An Province, Ms Do Thi Kim Lien, CEO of Assurance Corp, donated VND2 million to each family of victim on December 17, 2007. The donation came from AAA insurance fund and was sent to headquarters of Tuoi Tre Newspaper. AAA Assurance is located at 2bis Tran Cao Van Street, District 1, Ho Chi Minh City. According to General Department of Customs, in 2007, 9,234 violations have been found in trade fraud and smuggling worth VND145,112 billion. The Anti-Smuggling Department discovered 71 cases with over VND223 billion. The trade fraud cases increased 54 per cent while smuggling reduced 51.6 per cent and the value increased 73 per cent compared to 2006. It shows that the violations now focus on loop holes in custom procedures and policy.
