Top Ten Stock Events in 2007

The introduction of the Securities Law laid important legal groundwork for the development of the Vietnamese stock market. Criteria to join the stock market imposed on market members such as securities companies, listed companies and fund management companies, were raised. One point influencing the business culture of Vietnamese enterprises is mandatory information disclosure for public companies. Under this regulation, after a company grows to a certain size, transparent and clear reports on business performance are required, ending the closed business culture. At the same time, the Securities Law also provides clauses to manage the OTC market. OTC market transactions are expected to be managed by the end of first quarter of 2008 when initial 40 shares of securities companies, banks and insurance firms will debut.
