The Standard Chartered research group forecast that the Vietnamese trade gap is still controllable in 2009. Even, the trade gap optimistically falls to US$12 - 15 billion, instead of US$19.2 billion as projected by the Vietnamese Government.rnAccording to the report, export of Vietnam in December 2008 was down 10.2 per cent from a year earlier, compared with the fall of 14.1 per cent in November. Crude oil export, a key export item of Vietnam, plunged 47.5 per cent year on year in December. Remarkably, apparels and textiles, the largest export item of Vietnam, shed 8 per cent.
