A total of 180 papers are collected in the two volumes of proceedings from the sixth international conference on Structural Analysis of Historic Construction, Bath (2008). The international background of the contributors demonstrates the universal regard for the historic built environment and a united desire to ensure the preservation of those buildings and structures considered to be the most important. Despite the diversity of structural forms and materials of the many structures examined, the papers reveal a general commonality of approach to problems and a broad consensus in the philosophy of the practical response.
