摘要

You know things are bad when you see a headline in a prestigious business-school publication entitled "IT Doesn't Matter." That is the kind of topic that makes you wonder whether technology's run could really be over. The essay, in fact, appeared in the May issue of the Harvard Business Review. A colleague who edits an influential and strategic IT publication brought the article to my attention. Because the readership of VARBusiness spends every ounce of its fiber making sure IT does matter, I figured we should take a few moments to look at the piece, which maintains that IT's strategic importance has diminished as its power and ubiquity have grown. As a result, the author, Nicholas Carr, suggests the way executives "approach IT investment and management needs to change dramatically."
