On May 19, China’s President Xi Jinping and Russia’sPresident Vladimir Putin took part in a ceremony held virtuallyto mark the official start of construction for four VVER-1200 reactors destined for Units 7 & 8 of the Tianwan nuclearpower plant in Jiangsu Province, and Units 3 & 4 of theXudabao nuclear power plant in Liaoning Province, China.The construction inauguration ceremony was also attended byRussian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak andRosatom Director General Alexey Likhachev, in addition toChina’s National Development and Reform Commission(NDRC) Chairman He Lifeng and China National NuclearCorp.
