CEZ completes uprate of Temelin 2

On November 5, Czech utility CEZ reported that it successfully increased the power capacity of Unit 2 of the Temelin nuclear power plant by 4 MWe via the installation of new separators. CEZ installed the new separators in the non-nuclear side of the facility during the plant’s summer maintenance outage. “It was one of the most demanding works during the shutdown of the second unit, when it was necessary to coordinate 488 partial activities. Not only the actual replacement was demanding, during which the power engineers handled equipment weighing over 120 tons and over thirty meters long, but also the subsequent connection to the technology,” said CEZ in a statement.
