A crude barricade blocked the snow-covered dirt road leading to the ranch where a dozen or so self-proclaimed Freemen were holed up east of Jordan, Mont. A cattle guard had been upended and yellow and orange ribbons fluttered from a thin wire stretched between two fence posts. The fact that the barrier was enough to hold at bay some 150 FBI agents, Highway Patrol officers, Garfield County sheriff's deputies and Montana Fish and Wildlife officials says a lot about how eager the FBI is to ensure that the siege of the fugitives' so-called Justus Township does not explode intp another bloody Waco or Ruby Ridge.
