摘要

By depicting the Polish border patrol serenely watching no-border activists bathing in the River Neisse, which forms part of the German-Polish border, the cover picture brilliantly encapsulates the underlying hypothesis of Ulrich Best's book: nowadays 'activism' against the Polish-German border is officially facilitated and controlled. Whereas the transgression of the German-Polish border was once viewed as a form of revolutionary practice, it has now turned into mainstream policy, finding its expression in such things as cross-border projects, changes in public discourse and administrative practice as well as in various forms of financial support provided by the European Union.
