BP eyes Australia as green hydrogen powerhouse

IN a week when an alarming UN climate change report put the onus on the oil industry to move more aggressively to meet demands for energy transition, UK supermajor BP identified Australia's potential to become "a regional powerhouse" of the drive. BP's focus on the country followed a new study that confirmed the feasibility of building export-scale green hydrogen developments in Western Australia. BP launched the feasibility study last year looking at the technical and financial implications of a fully integrated green hydrogen supply chain, as well as the economic opportunity and how it could be scaled up for future demand.
