Lion City pact for Saipem

ITALIAN contractor Saipem has signed an initial agree-ment with Singapore LNG (SLNG) for construction of the next phase of a liquefied natu-ral gas terminal in the Lion City. Several contracting sources said that Saipem, as lead con-tractor, has signed a memoran-dum of understanding with SLNG covering the fourth-phase expansion of the latter's LNG terminal on Jurong Island, with engineering, procure-ment and construction activi-ties expected to start in Sep-tember. Saipem has lined up China Huanqiu Contracting & Engi-neering, an EPC outfit con-nected with Chinese state-con-trolled giant PetroChina, as its subcontractor, according to sources. Part of the workscope covers a new tank farm consisting of two to three LNG tanks, each with a holding capacity of 260,000 cubic metres.
