VANCOUVER-BASED ReconAfrica has spudded a second wildcat in its controversial three-well exploration campaign onshore Namibia, some 500 kilometres west of where US junior Frontier Resources International is now eyeing plans to carry out a 2D seismic survey.ReconAfrica last month announced it had found oil and gas shows with its first probe in the Kavango basin, sparking both a share price surge on the Toronto and Frankfurt exchanges, and the wrath of anti-fossil fuel campaigners and local communities who are fearful of the impact oil and gas projects could have on their environment.The company spudded its 6-1 probe yesterday after its Jarvie-1 rig was mobilised 16 kilometres north of the site of the debut 6-2 wildcat.ReconAfrica said the latest well has a target depth of 3800 metres and is designed to evaluate the petroleum systems discovered in the first well "in an area of maximum thickness".These first two wells are within one of five major sub-basins of the larger, more laterally extensive, Permian-aged deep Kavango basin, said the operator.
