Mixed results in Myanmar

AUSTRALIA'S Woodside has seen mixed results with the drill bit in its recent exploration campaign in Myanmar's offshore Rakhine basin. The Pyi Tagun-1 exploration well in Block A-7 was drilled to a total depth of 3916 metres, in a water depth of 2129 metres, with the primary target found to be water bearing with minor gas saturation. The secondary target in the well, however, did uncover 11 metres of net gas pay across three zones, Woodside said late last week. Woodside also drilled the AD-8 E-1 Tun Tauk well, in Block AD-8, in a water depth of 1696 metres, reaching a total depth of 3549 metres. The well intersected three metres of net gas pay within a 12-metre gross gas column in the primary target and, while the secondary target also contained good quality net reservoir, it was found to be water bearing.
