A clutch of major oilfield services stalwarts are entering crucial stages of bidding competitions for significant contracts linked to the Ichthys booster compression project in Australia. Ichthys, which is operated by Japan's Inpex, is one of the most significant liquefied natural gas developments in Australia, which remains ahead of Qatar and the US as the largest LNG exporter in terms of liquefaction capacity. There are two big workscopes up for grabs - the turnkey contract to engineer and fabricate the 4000-tonne compression module, and the contract for the transportation and installation of the module from a construction yard in Indonesia to the Western Australia coast.
