摘要

CANADIAN junior Reconnaissance Energy Africa (ReconAfrica) has discovered a working petroleum system with its debut wildcat in Namibia's frontier onshore basin. The company is carrying out a controversial three-well exploration campaign in the arid frontier Kavango basin that, if it eventually finds commercial volumes of hydrocarbons, could lead to fresh investments in southern Africa's inland basins in Botswana, Angola and Zambia. The Vancouver-headquartered minnow said late last week that preliminary analysis of data from its 6-2 well "provides clear evidence of a working conventional petroleum system in the Kavango basin". Thomas Alweendo, Namibian Minister of Mines & Energy, added that the well confirms "a big potential for a very valuable energy resource for our country and therefore a significant development for Namibia onshore exploration efforts".
