Chinese LNG imports up 12% to 67.6 million tonnes in 2020

CHINA increased imports of liquefied natural gas by 12% last year to 67.6 million tonnes, according to figures compiled by Upstream, as traders took advantage of low price in the spot market to replenish stocks. However, the volumes imported in December dropped significantly to 1.61 million tonnes, down from the 6.6 million tonnes imported in November. The drop in imports in December is largely attributed to the delays of cargoes based on long-term supply contracts in part due to facilities turnaround in countries such as Australia.
