AUSTRALIA rocketed to the top of the world's largest liquefied natural gas exporters of the past decade - but now its gas producers face the task of keeping the LNG trains full while also meeting ambitious emissions-reduction targets. To keep its Darwin LNG plant operating into the future, Santos is pinning its hopes on the Barossa gas development. The gas in Barossa's reservoirs, however, contains between 16% and 20% carbon dioxide - the highest percentage of CO_2 of all Australia's currently planned offshore gas developments.
