Pemex deal for Dolphin

RIG contractor Dolphin Drilling has signed a contract with Mexico's state-run Pemex for work expected to begin in October. The $83 million contract will see the semi-submersible Blackford Dolphin utilised in Mexico for about 15 months. Dolphin did not disclose rates or the scope of the work to be fulfilled in this timeframe. The new contract comes at a time when Pemex has been seeking suspensions and deferred payments on many of its existing rig and vessel contracts, while also offering renewals at discounted rates. "Our alliance with Pemex demonstrates how we can add value to operators located anywhere in the world. I am looking forward to us continuing our global growth in the years to come, and see Mexico as a strategically important market for our moored semi-submers-ibles," chief executive Bjornar Iversen said in a statement.
