WHILE the economic downturn has seen more than A$60 billion (US$41.5 billion) worth of liquefied natural gas investment being placed on hold in Australia, it could provide a window of opportunity for Western Australia's Perth basin. Mitsui E&P is set to take a final investment decision on Waitsia Stage 2 during the September quarter, which could see it perfectly timed to take advantage of Woodside Petroleum's decision to place its Scarborough and Browse projects on hold in the wake of Covid-19.
