Gazprom slumps to a loss

RUSSIAN state-controlled gas monopoly Gazprom posted a net loss in the first quarter of this year after a significant fall in gas deliveries to domestic and international markets, according to the company's latest consolidated financial report. "Gazprom said this week its loss stood at more than 108 billion roubles ($1.52 billion) in the quarter compared to a net income of 560 billion roubles a year earlier. Revenues plunged by 24% to 1.74 trillion roubles in the first quarter against the same period of 2019. Total gas deliveries to Europe, former Soviet Union countries and the Russian domestic market dropped by almost 21 billion cubic metres to 138 Bcm.
