SUBSEA 7 has won an engineering, procurement, construction and installation deal for subsea components of the redevelopment of Aker BP's Hod field off Norway. The scope of the contract involves the EPCI of rigid pipelines, an umbilical and tie-ins at the oilfield, where the Anglo-Norwegian operator is targeting around Nkr5.7 billion ($596 million) of investments under a plan of development and operation submitted to authorities earlier this month. The southern North Sea redevelopment includes a new normally unmanned wellhead platform (Hod B) that will be tied back to the Valhall field centre, which is 12 kilometres away. Subsea 7 did not disclose the contract value but in a statement this week classified it as "sizeable", which the Oslo-listed player uses to denote contracts worth between $50 million and $150 million. Project management and engineering will begin immediately at the company's Sta-vanger, Norway office, with fabrication to take place at its spoolbase located in Vigra, also in Norway.
