GE-CONTROLLED Baker Hughes saw its profit jump fourfold in the fourth quarter, fuelled by higher demand for its core oilfield services business. Net income climbed to $131 million from $31 million a year earlier, as revenues increased 8% over the year to $6.3 billion. The company swung to an operating profit of $382 million from an operating loss of $111 million in the year-earlier quarter.
