Canacol to drill at VIM 5

CANADIAN independent Canacol Energy is planning to drill additional wells on its blocks in the Lower Magdalena Valley basin in Colombia after its work so far has paid off following testing. The second well on the 100% Canacol-owned VIM 5 block, the Ocarina 1 well, encountered a thick section of gas pay within the Cienaga de Oro (CDO) sandstone reservoir. Using the Pioneer 53 drilling rig, the well reached a total depth of 8751 feet (2667 metres) measured depth and encountered 530 feet of gross gas pay. It tested at a rate of 30 million cubic feet per day. Canacol said its drilling has confirmed "a significant new accumulation of gas within the CDO".
