FLOATER heavyweights Modec of Japan and Netherlands-based SBM Offshore are working towards submitting bids in mid-October in their front-end engineering and design competition to supply Norway's Equinor with a large floating production, storage and offloading vessel to be deployed at the Carcara pre-salt field off Brazil. After more than six months working on highly-detailed pre-FEED studies, well-informed sources told Upstream that both SBM and Modec are now approaching the final phase that will soon allow Equinor to pick the best concept solution for the Carcara-1 FPSO.
