PEMEX'S new strategy under President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador will also be accompanied by a major reorganisation within the company, upending a long-held structure based around a complex hierarchy across Mexico's various regions. Under the plans, the state oil company will aim to elevate technical competency within the organisation's 6000 professional staff by creating centralised groups focused on particular functions such as secondary and enhanced recovery, according to Francisco Javier Flamenco Lopez, subdirector of Pemex's specialised technical production unit.
