MALAYSIA has lined up eight offshore blocks for its 2020 acreage offering, with suitors being tempted by four so-called discovered resource opportunities — clusters that contain at least two undeveloped fields. One of this quartet is the Kerisi Cluster off Sabah, East Malaysia, which hosts the deep-water Kerisi, Kikeh Deep and Senangin discoveries made on Block K by US independent Murphy Oil more than a decade ago. The successful 2005 Kerisi-1 wildcat encountered oil in multiple sands on trend with the now-producing Kikeh field that is located less than eight kilometres to the south.
