Reliance ends field's output

RELIANCE Industries and partner BP have ceased production at their flagship D1-D3 deep-water gas field in the Krishna Godavari basin off India following a major technological intervention that had extended the field life by almost five years. D1-D3, situated on Block KG-D6 (KG-DWN-98/3), was the first deep-water gas field off India's east coast, starting production in April 2009. Together with the MA oilfield, also on the same block, it had produced more than 3 trillion cubic feet of gas equivalent reserves. During its peak in 2010, the D1-D3 field produced almost 2.1 billion cubic feet per day of gas but its output declined rapidly over the years due to geological issues.
