Peru starts its deepest well

AUSTRALIAN company Karoon Energy has spud an exploration well on Block Z-38 T, in Peru's offshore Tumbes basin. It will be the deepest well to be drilled off Peru. Success could help unlock offshore activities in the country and de-risk several further exploration targets within Block Z-38. The drillship Stena Forth spudded the Marina-1 exploration well, targeting a gross prospective resource best estimate of 256 million barrels of oil in the Tertiary Pliocene La Cruz to Cardalitos formations.
