Five ready to battle for new Aramco contract

A quintet of leading international offshore contractors is set to submit bids to Saudi Aramco within days for a new offshore project, as the Saudi state giant increasingly takes a more selective approach to dishing out deals to its long-term agreement (LTA) contractors. A person familiar with the tender process told Upstream that only five out of nine LTA contractors that are a part of Saudi Aramco's prestigious arrangement with offshore players are believed to have received tender documents from Aramco covering three platform jackets destined for a trio of oilfields and are expected to bid. "Only new LTA players along with Dynamic Industries of the US have received tenders. This is the first major contract release purchase order (CRPO) offered by Aramco this year," he said.
