Rig drops BOP stack

VALARIS is investigating what caused the blowout preventer stack to fall off its DS-8 drill-ship while the rig was moving between well locations off Angola earlier this week. The BOP stack disconnected from the riser and dropped to the sea floor, "clear of any sub-sea structures", on 7 March, the rig owner said. Valaris said the errant equipment has been found and the company is "actively working on ways" to recover or replace it so drilling can resume. The company said there were no injuries, environmental pollution or third-party damage.
