i3 finds oil off Scotland

UK-LISTED player i3 Energy discovered oil at its Serenity well in the Outer Moray Firth off the UK this week and is hoping a joint development could be on the cards with Repsol Sinopec Resources UK's nearby Tain field, writes Rob Watts. Aberdeen-based i3 said it was aiming to start commercial negotiations with Repsol with a view to unitising Serenity and Tain, which it believes are geologically connected. Results from the 13/23C-10 well on Serenity were "consistent" with i3's pre-drill estimate of 197 million barrels of oil in place for the entire Serenity closure within its licence area, it said.
