Petrobras closes in on three new flotel awards

BRAZIL'S Petrobras is close to awarding three new contracts for 170-berth maintenance and accommodation units (flotels), two of which will be working for international consortia. In a recently concluded bidding process, a special-purpose company controlled by Singapore's Sembcorp Marine submitted the lowest price for a three-year term sought by Petrobras, offering the Aquarius Brasil, a converted Ro-Ro ferry vessel. The Aquarius Brasil, which is managed by Singapore-based Poseidon Maritime Services, was offered to Petrobras for a total cost of $54 million.
