CNOOC spuds Howick wildcat in Atlantic

CNOOC International has started drilling work at the Howick wildcat well on the UK Atlantic margin, writes Rob Watts. The Island Drilling semi-submersible Island Innovator spudded a well on the Howick oil prospect at the end of last month, an Aberdeen-based spokesman confirmed. "The Howick exploration well was spudded on 31 August and operations are ongoing," he said. Howick is a Cretaceous oil target located in Block 206/21, where water depths are about 675 metres. Drilling is expected to take about 49 days. CNOOC International is operator with a 100% interest.
