PEMEX has developed a detailed wish-list of oil and gas acreage unclaimed in the country's bid rounds and is in talks with Mexico's government about requesting them as part of its drive to increase production from onshore fields and shallow waters. The areas eyed by the state-led Mexican oil company cover 33,505 square kilometres and represent estimated prospective resources of 2.4 billion barrels of oil equivalent in conventional plays, according to a presentation by Francisco Javier Flamenco Lopez, subdirector of Pemex's specialised technical production unit.
