Three pipelay players in race for Ionian crossing

THREE pipelay players are bat tling to land a prestigious con tract in the Ionian Sea covering installation of 216 kilometres of offshore and onshore pipeline between Greece and Italy. Industry sources said Allseas, Saipem and Sapura Energy are in the running, having been sent invitations to tender last month by project proponent IGI-Posei-don, a 50:50 joint venture between Italy's Edison and Depa of Greece. One project watcher said the project proponents had three days of meetings with selected con tractors last month. It is understood that technical and commercial bids will be sub mitted towards the end of next month, with an engineering, pro curement, construction and installation contract currently due to be awarded in the second quarter of 2019.
