THE Nigerian government has wrested control of six Niger Delta licences from indigenous operators that have consistently neglected to pay rents and royalties, writes Barry Morgan. The Ministry of Petroleum Resources has revoked OMLs 98, 120,121,108 and 141 as well as OPL 142 Pan Ocean Oil controlled onshore OML 98, while Erin Energy had responsibility for OMLs 120 and 121. Express Petroleum operated OML 108 with Emerald Energy Resources controlling OML 141 and Summit Oil International operating swamp licence OPL 142.
