Halcon seals settlement in dispute with investor

US shale producer Halcon Resources has reached a settlement with investor Fir Tree Partners after agreeing board changes as another operator, PDC Resources, looks to fight back against its own activist investor. Halcon said last week it had reached a deal with Fir Tree by agreeing to change its board of directors after months of the two sides being in dispute. As part of the settlement, Halcon expanded its board to eight independent members, appointed Carin Barth as a board member, and agreed to add an additional director slot by July 2019. Fir Tree, in exchange, will support Halcon's three-person slate for the board at the 23 May shareholder meeting.
