Chevron picks Kiewit for Anchor topsides

CHEVRON is understood to have chosen Kiewit Offshore Services in Ingleside, Texas as its preferred bidder to build the topsides of a new semi-submersible production platform to develop the Anchor discovery in the deep-water US Gulf of Mexico. The US supermajor had already firmed up plans for hull construction with Daewoo Marine & Offshore Engineering in South Korea. The topsides decision had come down to either placing the work with Kiewit or keeping the contract with Daewoo in Asia along with the hull, but multiple sources confirmed that the decision finally came down in favour of the US facility.
