EQUINOR, Seadrill and Norwegian authorities are searching for the cause of a well control incident on a semi-submersible in the Barents Sea last week that has led to a halt in drilling operations, writes Ole Ketil Helgesen. The lower marine riser package (LMRP) on the blowout preventer (BOP) on the West Hercules rig became unintentionally disconnected on 16 January when it was drilling the 7132/2-2 wildcat on the Gjokaasen prospect for Norwegian state-controlled player Equinor.
