THREE of Australia's leading offshore operators have made successful offers for exploration blocks near their existing producing fields, writes Russell Searancke. The Australian government said A$ll.l million (US$7.95 million) was paid in cash to secure the three permits - two of which are in the Carnarvon basin off Western Australia and one in the Otway basin off Victoria. The cash bid permits are valid for six years, and have no allotted work programme.
