MALAYSIAN contractor MISC is fighting a legal battle against a trio of Asian national oil companies over the early-termination of contracts for leased production facilities at the D30 and Dana fields off Malaysia. MISC was supplying two mobile offshore production units to a joint operating company comprising Petronas, Pertamina and PetroVietnam on a 10-year lease basis, but the operating company shut down the fields several years early. MISC said it is trying to recover nearly US$99.7 million for unpaid lease rates, payment for completed variation works, early termination fees, reimbursement of demobilisation costs and associated costs.
